An Interview With Dr. Laurie Casas MD , A Qualified Plastic Surgeon For Moms In Highland Park

1. What is a Botox Injection or botox shot?

A Botox or Dysport Injection is a controlled injection of a limited amount of a Neurotoxin that is intended to "freeze the expression lines" commonly found in areas of the aging face.

2. How long do the results of BOTOX last?

Typically 3-4 months, but it can last longer.

3. How much does BOTOX cost?

I price Botox/Dysport per unit. The reason I have unit pricing is because I believe it is fair to the patient to pay for what he/she is purchasing, and not have to pay for an entire zone when he/she may only need 10 units versus a full 30 or 40. This way, the patient is sure to have an individualized and much more natural result. The average price is about $12 to $16 per unit for Botox and $5 to $7 dollars per unit for Dysport.

4. How many treatments will be needed for botox?

I prefer for people s faces to look relaxed and natural. I want to help them erase the worry lines but never over-do to the point that they look frozen. What I like to do is start out with full correction and then tweak as needed. It may be 4 times per year, which is typical, but this can be more or less depending on how many units the person might want to do. Sometimes a patient will come in and say "do what you can, or I have a special event and I want to look the best I possibly could, so do whatever is necessary!" It can be a fluctuating amount -nobody should feel they HAVE to do the same amount each time. I happen to think it takes years off someone s look and that it is an integral, and easy way to make yourself look younger, and revitalized. I tell people, we budget to color our hair, and spend money for other necessities - think of this as one other component.

5. What is Botox cosmetic?

Botox Cosmetic is the same as "regular" botox, only it is usedspecifically for cosmetic reasons and is not able to be reimbursed for insurance reasons. It would not qualify as health related.

6. Is there any Botox danger?

Minimal. However, it should only be done by an experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Facial Plastic Oculplastic Dermatologist who specializes in Cosmetic Medicine in my opinion. There is a true artistic skill necessary for a good and pleasing outcome.

7. Where can I find Botox Doctors in my area?

I offer Dysport in my Glenview practice and both Botox and Dysport at the Medical Spa, Turn Back Time, in Highland Park. (847) 657-6884 is the Glenview Telephone Number and (847) 681-8700 is the Medispa Number.
