An Interview With Dr. Ronel, A Qualified Plastic Surgeon In Rio Rancho

Is there any Botox danger?

In the wrong hands, yes. It can cause paralysis of muscles not intended to be weakened, such as the upper eyelid muscles, the vocal cords, or the muscles aroud the mouth.

How are Botox Cosmetic and Dysport used cosmetically?

They are injected into areas of the face where the skin is attached to the underlying muscles, such as between the brows, in the forehead, and around the eyes.

How many treatments will be needed for botox?

Usually every 4 to 6 months.

What is a Botox party?

Not a good idea. Groups of people gather in an informal setting and someone brings Botox along. The American Society of Plastic Surgery looks down upon these events, as the injector is usually not a Board Certified MD.

What is a Botox treatment or botox procedure?

A typical treatment involves 4 or 5 injections with a small needle through the skin. For those sensitive to needles, the skin can be anesthetized with ice or a topical anesthetic.

What is a Botox Injection or botox shot?

Botox is a medication that weakens the muscle into which it is injected. In the case of facial muscles, this reduces wrinkles in those areas where the skin is attached to the muscles of facial animation (brow, crow s feet, neck bands). It can also decrease sweating in certain areas, such as the armpit and hands.

Who is the ideal candidate for BOTOX?

Usually someone over 30 years old, with a small amount of wrinkling between the brows or around the eyes.

How does BOTOX work?

The medication travels to the part of the muscle where it receives molecular signals. The botox molecule block these signals from reaching and activating the muscle.

How safe is Botox?

At the dilutions used for cosmetic purposes, Botox is safe when injected by a highly trained person.

What is Botox cosmetic?

It is a dilute form of the chemical produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. In a concentrated form, the chemical paralyses important muscles and can cause death. The cosmetic form is so dilute that this does not happen.

What is a Botox party?

Not a good idea. Typically, a group of people gather at someone s house and Botox is administered right there to those who want it. Members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons do not condone this, because it is not a medical setting.
